Closer the acquisition of Sun by IBM

IBM and Sun Micro systems would be a step by the arrangements. According to the details reported by U.S. sources, the agreement could take an acquisition by Sun from IBM valued at $ 9.5 per share. The Wall Street Journal reported that Sun would be willing to accept a value equal to $ 9.5 per share, lower than the figures circulated in recent days (10-11 dollars), “in exchange for a strong commitment on the part of IBM in carrying out the agreement, even in cases where thorough examinations were to register by the competent organs of control.”

The agreement between IBM and Sun, in fact, could be assessed as part of antitrust. And in the event that the two companies should join forces, will hold a total of over 40% of the server market. It should be remembered also as Sun has, in turn, acquired about a year ago, MYSQL becoming owner of one of the most used database in the world. IBM could thus strengthen its position in the landscape of open source solutions could also planning a marriage between DB2 and MYSQL. The spokesman for Sun and IBM have not wished for the time to offer comments on the state of the negotiation and on the probability of arriving at a definition of it.
